By signing the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Transgourmet has become the first food wholesaler to commit to reducing emissions to net zero by 2050. Transgourmet is pursuing the 1.5°C target, thereby making an important contribution to compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement. For Transgourmet, climate protection is a fundamental part of its sustainability strategy. Based on the concept of “avoid, reduce, engage,” in addition to eliminating unnecessary delivery stops, one-third of the truck fleet will be replaced by environmentally friendly drives such as biogas or electric by 2026. In the area of buildings, Transgourmet uses green electricity at all locations and installs its own photovoltaic systems wherever possible. Transgourmet calculates a climate protection amount from the remaining emissions using an internal CO2 price, which is invested in the promotion of renewable agriculture. The aim is to support farmers in its own supply chain in the future.

Farmers reduce CO2 and store carbon in the soil by diversifying their crop rotations, reducing the use of plant protection products and fertilisers, or minimising soil cultivation. Our flexible platform makes emissions measurable on the farm and compensates farmers for reducing and storing emissions.
