Net-Zero

Net-zero aims to balance human-generated greenhouse gas emissions that enter the atmosphere and those that are removed from it. The main goal is that the total emissions released do not exceed the amount that is removed from the atmosphere.

What is Net-Zero?

Net-zero (net zero) aims to balance human-generated greenhouse gas emissions that enter the atmosphere and those that are removed from it. The main goal is that the total emissions released do not exceed the amount that is removed from the atmosphere, such as through carbon storage in our soils and oceans, so that overall human activities do not cause any additional greenhouse gases. With the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015, numerous nations worldwide are striving to meet this net-zero target by 2050 at the latest in order to effectively slow down climate change.

Implementing Net-Zero requires extensive measures: drastically reducing emissions through increased use of renewable energy sources, increasing energy efficiency and developing new technologies. In addition, increased efforts to reduce CO₂ are essential, for example through regenerative farming practices that help store CO2 in our soils.
