Carbon Farming
What is carbon farming?
Carbon farming is a regenerative agriculture approach that aims to increase the carbon content of agricultural soils and thus contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The main aim is to return the carbon released into the atmosphere by humans back into the soil in order to close the carbon cycle.
Through various practices such as agroforestry, mulching, composting, crop rotation and minimum tillage, farmers can apply the principles of regenerative agriculture to sequester carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the soil. These practices not only improve soil health, but also promote biodiversity and increase resilience to extreme weather events.
In addition, carbon farming has become an additional source of income for farmers who generate carbon creditss that can be sold on the voluntary carbon market.
