Promoting climate protection and biodiversity through regenerative agriculture

01 THE PROBLEM

We lose the soil under our feet

Germany has lost about 30% of fertile soil in the last 60 years.

02 The solution

Healthy soil is essential

As a carbon sink, soil can bind more CO₂ than the atmosphere and all plants combined.

03 YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Invest in regenerative agriculture now and restore soil health

Together, we help farmers in your region to implement soil improvement measures, store and reduce CO₂, and promote biodiversity.

Buy regionalCO2 certificates

We offer two different CO₂ certificates from regenerative agriculture, which differ in their methodology.

Reductions

Climate reduction credits are the result of reducing greenhouse gas emissions when cultivating agricultural fields. This is achieved by reducing the use of nitrogen fertilizers, minimizing the use of pesticides and using less intensive tillage.

  • TÜV-validated according to DIN ISO 14064.2

  • Type: Ex post

  • Vintage: 2023

ℹ️ Both types of CO₂ certificates are also available ex ante with vintages from 2024.

Removals

Climate Removal Credits are generated through the sequestration of carbon in the soil, which is achieved by farmers through the implementation of improved crop rotations and the use of organic fertilizers. In addition, the avoidance of the natural decomposition of organic carbon in the soil compared to the baseline scenario is taken into account.

Hans-Michael Strube and Michael Haßkerl, board members of Salzlandsparkasse

"As a regional savings bank, we want to support our local farmers in the transformation to regenerative agriculture and offset our unavoidable emissions by storing CO₂ in the humus soils of our agricultural customers. Through this collaboration, we can achieve our climate goals as a community in the long term and form a network between agriculture and the financial sector. "
