What is decarbonization?
Decarbonization refers to the process of reducing or eliminating man-made CO₂ emissions. By reducing emissions, it makes a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and Net Zero. Germany has set itself the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 to 95% by 2050 compared to 1980.
Decarbonization measures include the use of renewable energies, the electrification of transport and the promotion of energy efficiency. Regenerative agriculture can also play an important role in drastically reducing emissions from agriculture and promoting the potential of our soils as effective carbon sinks.
The global significance of decarbonization lies in its direct impact on climate protection and is a necessary step to ensure a sustainable future and preserve the quality of life for future generations.
